Do You Feel Called to Serve?

Each year we look for dedicated people to join us as lectors and Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist. If you are gifted with the ability to speak well in front of others, you might consider helping to proclaim scripture as a lector. If you are a prayerful person who feels especially blessed by the real presence of Jesus in Holy Communion, you might be well-suited to become a Eucharistic Minister. We will soon be offering formation opportunities for these ministries. If you think you might be interested or have any questions, please contact Dugan McGinley at the rectory

Do you have a musical talent to share with our community? If so, then this is the time of year to think about becoming more involved. Our parish music groups will resume their regular leadership of the Sunday liturgies the weekend of September 10/11. Trinity leads the music at the 9:00 a.m. Mass, and rehearsals begin Wednesday, August 31, 7:30-9:15 p.m. The Choir leads the music at the 11:30 a.m. Mass, and rehearsals begin Thursday, September 1, 7:30-9:15 p.m. We welcome new members to join us in song! If you have any questions or would like to explore how best to use your talents, contact Dugan McGinley at the rectory.

9/11 Service Project Please help!

THINK ABOUT IT!
What do local children who receive free meals at school during the week eat on the weekend?
For our 9/11 Service Project, St. Joseph Parishioners have been asked to assist RENT Party volunteers who have begun a BackPack Pals program! Starting Sunday, September 11th through the 25th we will be collecting the following “Open & Eat” or “Heat & Eat” items:
Mac & Cheese
Chef Boyardee Raviolis, Lasagna, Pasta and Meatballs
Individual Size Cereal Boxes
Mixed Fruit, Peach and Apple Sauce Cups
Apple and Grape Juice Boxes
Cans of Chili, Beef Stew and Red Beans & Rice
Our 8th Grade Religious Education students will sort the donations, fill the weekend bags and then they will be distributed to the most in need students through our local Parenting Center and school guidance counselors.
Questions, concerns, comments…please contact Liz lpetroccia@stjosephmaplewood.org 973-761-5933 x17
